So for a while now I have been working at Bashor Children’s Home and during some trainings that everyone ultimately receives (due to the sensitive nature of working with children); I met this man and wife that are great people!! They are originally from Ohio, and even if they are Buckeyes fans, they are an awesome couple to hang out with. Adam approached me after seeing a lot of our work on Facebook, and asked if I wouldn’t mind doing a shoot of him and his wife, LouAnn.  Of course, me being me, could never say no to the opportunity of getting the camera out and shooting!  I, of course, said “YES!!”  Quite emphatically!!!  Adam then stated those fatal words – you have to convince my wife!  D’ OH!!!

Well after a while Adam and LouAnn came around and were both very excited about being able to get a photo-shoot done!!  Which of course meant I was too!

Cold – brrrr

Adam and LouAnn called me one day and said that they were very much ready to have their photos done and we should schedule sometime soon!  Well this was very exciting since we have been talking about this for quite some time (about 8 months)!!!  We scheduled the shoot for today – Adam being the prankster that he is said that he would love it to be snowing so he could wear his Hawaiian shirt and make a Christmas card saying “Greetings from Hawaii!”  Hilarity ensued.  So the day came – today (11/22/2010) – and the temperature was just above seeing your breath!  But that was okay because the warmth of these two’s love for one another was enough to warm Mr. Scrooge’s heart!  We went to Bonneyville Mill in Bristol, Indiana.

Unfortunately, Adam did not wear his Hawaiian shirt, nor did it snow!  Always next year buddy!!!  Anyhow, we walked around the park for a while and snapped some shots! These two were amazing!  I loved working with them and the weather was perfect for pictures! Not to mention the sun was in the perfect spot!!!

Adam and LouAnn, as I said before are from Ohio, so they had never been to Bonneyville Mill, but they loved it and they loved the water scenes there as well!!!  And as you can see from the photo on the left the water and sun and cold air loved them as well!!

We had so much fun shooting today – that I just had to tell everyone about it!! Please let me know what you all think!!!

Thank you Adam and LouAnn for the great opportunity of being able to go to the other Elkhart County Park with a tower!!!

Here are just a few of the photos that were taken out at the park today!!  More to come – follow up on the Facebook page for more details!!!

Blue Steel

Aric (pronounced Eric) Hopper and I had a little bit of camera fun today!!  Aric is a Senior at Elkhart Central High School and is a completely awesome dude!  We did his senior photos today and had a blast!  His motto for the day was the “Blue Steel!”   Aric was a Varsity swimmer and lettered a few times in it!

We did a variety of different shots at a variety of different locations.  Aric did awesome – he was trying to figure out just exactly what was going on when the next thing we were doing was moving to a new location!  Overall his photo quality was great and looking forward to working with more senior – high school or college!

Soft Face

One thing that Aric has really going for him is the fact that he has a baby face!  His Mom, Jenny, was giving him a very difficult time and making him laugh causing for great moments to be captured!  He was such a good sport!

The best thing about being a photographer is the ability to be able to see everyone’s true good nature!  God bless the fact that people are inherently awesome!  Shooting children that are turning into adults is quite possibly one of the the best moments that a person can have – as a photographer!  Sorry Aric, you are still a child until your birthday in January!  haha

Getting Dark

So Aric and I started out in the “studio.”  Which both of these shots came from; however, we were not thinking about what it would be like outside!   Now, mind you a Senior photo-shoot is a minimum of three hours (3), Aric and I were having so much fun that we lasted a little longer in the “studio” then what I had originally planned for – his mom was picking on him something hilarious!  So when we finally were able to leave it was already getting dark…  Got to love Indiana and Daylight Savings Time!  We headed out towards his high school that he attends regularly – an honor roll student – and started taking photo’s not able to get into the stadium we took pictures outside of it in the parking lot facing the stadium and then the actual school itself.  Now I am really proud to say that I went to school where he is graduating from – so it was really awesome going back and shooting there!  I have not shot a camera at that school for almost 13 years.  Classic!

Aric and I were racing against time and Mother-Nature.  We got the mobile flashes set up (2 Nikon SB-600′s and 1 Nikon SB-900 as the commander unit) and tried to get some HDR shot’s done – not sure what they look like just yet, but we will know soon enough – but then it was getting dark; and I mean DARK!  The pictures did turn out great and these are just a few of the shots that I found to be eye catching and eye popping.

Oh and BTW -  Kids need to see the movie “Zoolander” with Ben Stiller!

Because when it is all said and done – it is really “all about helping the kids that can’t speak or read really good!”
